No Fixed Mix
Walk into a west-end sound studio and there's nearly always a familiar sight at the mixing console. A bloke. Why are there so few female sound designers?
Sound design and music production facility, String and Tins, have been asking the same question and want to help improve the gender balance in technical sound roles.
String and Tins are inviting applications for our second No Fixed Mix programme, aimed at encouraging women to consider a career in Sound Design.
The workshops will take place on weekday evenings over Zoom. We aim to have at least one session in our Fitzrovia studio (global pandemic dependent of course). Details will be communicated to successful applicants during the week commencing 29th March 2021.
To apply for a place please email [email protected] with a single page CV and a link to a single piece of sound work that you have created. This could be audio only sound design, a collage of interesting field recordings, sound design to picture, or a piece of music with unusual instrumentation. Links must be Soundcloud, YouTube or Vimeo. Submissions should be between 10 seconds and 1 min in duration. Applicants must be 18 years or older, as of 29th March 2021.
Closing date for applications is midnight Sunday 28th March 2021. We will reply to all applicants the week thereafter. Any questions? Feel free to email [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
